Do you need a ride?

Our volunteers provide free transportation for qualifying adults to medical & dental appointments or errands like pharmacies and grocery stores. This transportation support allows our clients to stay in their homes and live independently with dignity!

HOW OUR SERVICE WORKS

Older adults (50+) living in McLean, Arlington, or Falls Church may request services
Applicants are screened by our volunteers, then registered as new clients once accepted
Clients can email or call in their ride or handy helper requests, providing necessary details (provider name, address, timing, etc)
Rides can be one-way or round-trip
Once posted, open requests are viewed by background-checked volunteers
Clients are notified when their rides are accepted
The ride-service is free, but clients are responsible for out-of-pocket fees such as parking

Liz McRaney

Liz McRaney, 73, lives in Falls Church. She deals with some health issues, uses a cane and hasn’t driven in years. She tried public transportation, but service was spotty. Now the Shepherd’s Center takes her where she needs to go.
