Medical Appointment Drivers
A simple ride can make a world of difference – help older adults get and stay healthy by driving them to doctor’s appointments.
You never know how crucial transportation is until you lose the ability to drive. This happens to older adults across our region every day, leaving them stressed and concerned. At the Shepherd’s Center of McLean-Arlington-Falls Church, our volunteer drivers help those who can no longer drive get to important health care appointments, shop for groceries, and assist with minor home repairs. Riders are picked up at their homes in the areas of McLean, Arlington, and Falls Church, and most destinations are within these same areas. You’ll receive an email a few times a week listing the available riders and destinations so you can choose what works for you.
Ask any of our riders – this free service represents far more than just a ride! Valuable conversations and interactions occur, friendships form, and worries are eased when our volunteer drivers step up to help. In many cases, the relationship and bond that develops between riders and volunteers extends far beyond the car rides.
